Dr. George Nield, Associate Administrator of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will join Andrew D’Uva of Providence Access, Paul Graziani of Analytical Graphics and Doug Loverro from the U.S. Department of Defense in delivering a joint presentation titled “Commercial & Civil Space Traffic Management: Getting Ahead of the Curve, ” on Tuesday, March 7 at 1:45 p.m. The session will focus on the challenges facing space situational awareness (SSA) and why good SSA is a foundational prerequisite for Space Traffic Management.
Several speakers have been confirmed for the SATELLITE 2017 Finance Forum, taking place on Monday, March 6. Andrew Spinola of Wells Fargo Equity Research will give the opening remarks for the forum with NSR President Christopher Baugh. Other finance sector speakers include: Giles Thorne, IT Hardware & Infrastructure, Equity Research from Jefferies Group; In-Q-Tel CosmiQ Works Vice President & Deputy Director Ryan Lewis; Chad Anderson, CEO of Space Angels Network; and Chris Quilty, President of Quilty Analytics. Asia Broadcast Satellite CEO Tom Choi will join our Tuesday Closing General Session featuring executives from the largest international operator companies at 4:15 p.m. in room 202. The panel also features the CEOs of Arabsat, Yahsat and Hispasat.
Southwest Research Institute Engineers Samantha Blaisdell, Maria Araujo and Adam Van Horn are coming to SATELLITE 2017 to deliver their presentation titled “Using Satellite Imagery and Machine Learning to Locate Oil Spills” on Monday, March 6 at 2:00 p.m. as part of the Engineering Forum. Attendees will learn about the fundamental challenges of minimizing false alarms in oil spill detection, strategies for applying machine learning to satellite image data, and applications for applying machine learning technologies to satellite imagery.
SATELLITE 2017 is currently seeking contestants to participate in our brand new “STARTUP SPACE” pitch contest event for entrepreneurs and startup business owners. The event takes place on our new Expo Hall Theater Stage on Tuesday, March 7 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Participants will get a chance to deliver a quick pitch of their new ideas, businesses and technology to a panel of industry experts and investors.
